“No one is mightier than Talos!”
―Talos to Scarab in Body Slam.

Talos is a large bronze statue given life.

Episodes[]

Appearance[]

Talos is made of bronze and has bronze-colored skin. His helmet, tunic and shoes are a darker shade of brown, while his beard is a shade of reddish-brown color. His clothes resemble typical ancient Greek armor, and his tunic has lines running across it.

Once enlarged, Talos's entire color scheme switches to just his skin color, although in that form he possesses greyish-green patches of metal around his skin, resembling rust.

When Talos was re-casted by Rath, he was considerably smaller than his usual appearance, and a solid shade of bronze on his entire body.

History[]

Talos body slam 1

Scarab creating Talos.

Talos was created by Scarab, after he saw an ad on television about the "World's Toughest Gladiator Contest", as a means to ensure Armon's defeat. Scarab tried to pursue Talos into participating, by saying the contest was to judge who was the world's mightiest warrior. Talos agreed to participate. Later, Talos emerged from the ocean and approached the stadium in order to sign up for the contest, being informed by the secretary that he just made the deadline, before the contest started in an hour. Later that night, Talos was seen fighting a boxer, which exhausted himself out, after trying to cause damage to Talos. Talos fought another fighter, which he blinded by reflecting the stage lights onto his chest, and then threw off the arena.

Talos fighting with Armon.

Talos made it to the final match, alongside Armon, who was weakened by the implanted amulet, placed there by Ka earlier in the episode. Talos demanded Armon to get up and fight him. Armon made it onto the arena, but was picked up by Talos, and then thrown onto an army of Shabties. Scarab, had come to the stadium in order to destroy Armon himself, but was interrupted by Talos, who wanted to destroy him in order to win the contest, and threatened to destroy Scarab if he interfered. Scarab decided to teach Talos a lesson for turning on him, and blasted him with a beam using Heka. As the Mummies made it into the stadium themselves, Talos re-emerged furious, threatening to destroy them all. He then grew in size and started destroying Scarab's shabties. The Mummies started fighting Talos, but their weapons proved useless against his giant size. Rath noticed the plug in Talos's heel, and attempted to twist it loose, but Talos kicked him back. He then accidentally stepped on the amulet which had been ripped off Armon by Ammut, crushing it, and transferring back to Armon all of his lost strength. Armon started fist fighting with Talos, and was instructed by Ja-Kal to twist the plug in his heel. Armon twisted and removed the plug, which made the liquid metal inside Talos to start pouring out, melting him in the process.

Shabties attempting to recast Talos.

Talos's remains were collected by Scarab and were re-melted in a Junkyard, in an attempt to remold him and bring him back to life. The Mummies were keeping close watch of the whole situation. The Mummies stopped the machine used to recast him and fought the Shabties that were in charge of the machine. Rath took back some of the remaining parts of Talos, and the Mummies drove away from the junkyard. Later in the episode, Rath is seen experimenting with Talos's metal, and pouring it into a small mold. Talos is then revived, albeit much tinier, and more submissive, acting like some sort of servant to Rath. Ja-Kal informed Rath that they had left some pieces of the magical metal behind, and Rath mentioned how Scarab could create yet another Talos, even without the special incantation needed. Rath then puts Talos into slumber, and tells Ja-Kal that they need to go back and gather the rest of the metal. Presley then steals Talos alongside the incantation, and took him to his house, to help him clean his room. Talos starts listening to Presley's commands, but trips over a wire accidentally which causes a row of events that end up making him hit his head and break off one of his arms when some items fell on him. That caused Talos to regain his old personality back. He grabbed the incantation, and spoke a spell which allowed him to meld with other metals, including his broken arm. Talos ripped up the incantation and escaped through a hole he punched onto the wall and into the streets. Talos started absorbing more metal, gradually growing in size, scaring some citizens in the process. Talos made his way into a construction site in Green Street and absorbed an excavator.

The Mummies made their way there, and find Talos absorbing more metal. Talos attacks the Mummies, wrecking the Hot-Ra in the process. Rath tries to stop Talos using the incantation, which Presley tried to glue back together in an attempt to cover his tracks, but to no effect. Nefertina tries to stop him by crashing the Hot-Ra onto him, but Talos absorbs it, destroying it for good. Ja-Kal then tried to stop Talos using a wrecking ball, but Talos ended up absorbing that as well. The Mummies then transform and try to find a way to stop him. Nefertina blasted Talos with water, and Armon tried to punch Talos, but was stopped by Rath, warning him that he would simply absorb his golden arm. Talos then grabbed Armon, and Rath tried to stop him by throwing his sword at him, which he absorbed. However Talos started grunting in pain, as the sword turned into a snake, and emerged back out. That gave Rath an idea, by making Talos absorb something other than metal, and instructed the Mummies to keep him busy.

Talos miscast 2

Talos's rivet absorbing the paperclip.

Presley grabbed Talos's attention, and made him absorb a cement truck Rath has hiding, which started solidifying him, turning him into a statue, unable to move. Nefertina used a crane to lift him up and use him as a pillar for the building being constructed in the site. The Mummies later returned to the site, and Rath determined that Talos wouldn't be a threat for approximately 487 years, 6 months and 2 days, based on his calculations. During the end of the episode a small rivet is seen falling off of Talos, that absorbs a paperclip that was carried by a mouse. Talos is then revealed to change his facial expression into a smile, indicating he's still sentient and would return.

Talos ooha 2

Talos would indeed return. One night, he was seen in Union Square, trying to talk to the statue on top of the Dewey Monument. Bob and Joe, who were on a night swift patrolling the streets, heard Talos's speech, and him demanding the statue's love, thinking that there could be trouble. They ordered him to stay put, but Talos instead grew in size, which made them get back in their police vehicle, and turn back to get more backup. However Talos grabbed the vehicle, and placed it on top of the monument, after removing the statue. Seeing the aftermath of the event on the news, the Mummies deduced that the person responsible was Talos. Talos took the statue to an abandoned airfield, where he sung a poem he wrote to her. Talos was approached by Scarab and Heka. Due to a joke made by Heka about his poem, Talos snapped and immediately attacked Scarab's Shabties. Scarab then attacked Talos back, using Heka to fire a blast, which knocked Talos down. Talos then proceeded to throw an aircraft at Scarab. Scarab tried to negotiate with Talos, saying that he wanted to help him and that he searched everywhere for him after he saw the news. Scarab negotiates that he will bring the statue to life, in exchange for prince Rapses's spirit.

Talos ooha 1

Talos breaking Ja-Kal's wings.

Talos manages to find Presley and the Mummies in a playground area, and announced he was there to take him. The Mummies transformed and tried to stop him. Armon punched Talos but to no effect, and Nefertina tried to cuff his hands with her whip, but Talos snapped it in half. Talos explained to them why he needed the young prince, and then proceeded to slap both Armon and Nefertina. After that, Talos started chasing after Ja-Kal and Rath in the Hot-Ra, who were in charge of taking Presley to safety. Rath returned to rescue Armon and Nefertina. Talos then started throwing trees at them out of rage. Nefertina realized that the only way to stop Talos would be to convince him Scarab was lying about his part of the offer. Ja-Kal expanded on the idea, and suggested that the only way to stop Talos would be to actually give him Presley. The Mummies then try to make Talos believe he caught Presley for himself after a short battle. Talos took Presley in the airfield. Presley tried to make him believe the statue simply wasn't into him because of his looks, including his anger problem, which ironically angered Talos further. The Mummies were able to follow Presley and create a plan to stop both Scarab and Talos. Once Scarab arrived with his army of Shabties, Armon created a distraction, and Nefertina hid behind the statue, speaking as itself. Talos wondered why he could hear her talk, but she wasn't moving. Nefertina then convinced him that Scarab only wanted Talos to do his bidding, and had no intention of bringing her - the statue - to life.

Talos36
Talos demanded Scarab to make her move, and Scarab commanded his Shabties to attack him. The Mummies came in and started fighting the Shabties, Talos helping them in the process. Scarab escaped, but Talos was left heartbroken realizing his lover was simply a statue and could never be brought to life. Talos returned the statue back where it belonged, and announced that he would be leaving. But before he left, Presley gifted him with a robot built by Rath, for him to use as a wife, and Talos left holding her in his arms.

Personality[]

Talos is a very angry creature, usually throwing fits of rage at even the slightest inconvenience, letting his fists do the talking for him. Talos is a proud warrior and attacks anyone that doubts his strength. Talos's over-confidence is also one of his greatest strengths and weaknesses, as it allows him to be ready to defend himself, but also leads to him underestimating his opponents. His bad attitude also doesn't make him the greatest candidate for negotiations. However, outside of his destructive mind, and inside his hard, cold, metallic shell lies a warm and compassionate soul, looking for love.

Powers and Abilities[]

Talos has proven to be a very tricky opponent for the Mummies to fight. His large size and immense strength has usually made them resort to other ways to defeat him, as hand to hand combat usually doesn't work, and their weapons are unable to do much damage. Talos is also able to shrink or grow himself in size, usually via squeezing his helmet, but not always. Talos is able to use his reflective body to blind opponents by redirecting light in their faces. Talos was able to absorb all kinds of metal once he was revived, including parts of himself that may have broken off, giving him regenerative capabilities. In one instance Talos was also shown to be able to form weapons from his hands. Despite all this, Talos could at first be defeated by twisting the cap on his heel, letting all his internal liquids flow out, melting him, or by tricking him into absorbing something that isn't metal, that could irritate him, like when he absorbed Rath's sword, which then turned into a snake, or even solidify him, as when he absorbed concrete inside a cement truck.

Object of His Affections[]

Trivia[]

  • Talos is most commonly know in Greek mythology for fighting the explorers Jason and his crew, the Argonauts.
    • In the myth, Talos is defeated by twisting the plug on his heel, and letting all the liquids flow out, something that is also seen in the episode "Body Slam".
  • Its implied that the rivet that fell off Talos at the end of "Miscast" eventually became the Talos we see in "Object of his Affections", as Talos was unable to move during the end of the episode, and shouldn't be able to do so for a long time according to Rath. Therefore, a theory suggests that there are in actuality two Taloses, one being used as a pillar for a building, and the other being the small rivet that eventually absorbed enough metal to turn into a different Talos.
  • Talos was voiced by David Kaye, the voice actor best known for his work in the Transformers franchise in the role of the leading villain, Megatron.
